It was indeed a night for Twilight during the 2010 MTV Movie Awards. A brand new clip for the much awaited third installment of the Twilight series Eclipse debuted at the awards show: a confrontation scene of Edward Cullen, Jacob Black, and Bella Swan. But it seems like June 6, 2010 was lucky for Twilight and they have fans that proved to be stronger than any other movies. Twihards rule. The MMA is a popularity contest, wherein the fans get to choose the nominees and the winners for the categories. They have a chance to vote via the official website of MTV. It did not matter if the critics panned or hated the movie as long as they were popular.
The Twilight Saga: New Moon took home four awards after they got five nominations. Robert Pattinson won against co-star Taylor Lautner for Best Male Performance. Pattinson plays Edward, the always brooding heartthrob vampire who is in love with Bella, while Lautner plays Jacob, the almost always shirtless wolfboy. Kristen Stewart won again the Best Female Performance. She won last year at the same category for the first Twilight movie. She plays Bella, a mortal who is in love with a vampire. Stewart and Pattinson also took home the much-coveted Best Kiss, which they also won last year. They were pitted against Twilight co-stars: Lautner and Taylor
Pattinson also picked up an additional Golden Popcorn for the newly-added category, Global Superstar. The MTV Generation Award was given to this year’s Best Actresss at the Oscars, Sandra Bullock. The event was hosted by Aziz Ansari, with performances by Katy Perry, Snoop Dogg, and Christina Aguilera.
