New Records set by the Midnight Screening of Eclipse

There was no doubt that the third movie of the Twilight Saga franchise would be huge. Even before it was released, the movie has already smashed several records. On MovieTickets.com, it is the topseller for online advanced tickets and accounts for more than 50% of daily tickets sales. Fandango reported that 82% of their advanced online ticket sales is for Eclipse and has stayed on the top five since May 14, 2010. Gold Class Cinemas said that it has also broken the record of their tickets sales as 8,500 tickets have been reserved. The movie also grabbed the record of Iron Man for having the widest theatrical release in Hollywood history.

The movie then held their midnight opening last Wednesday, and it was record breaking. Eclipse crashed the record set by New Moon last week for having the biggest midnight opening in domestic history. It was shown in over 4,000 theaters and earned an estimated $30 million, eclipsing New Moon’s $26.3 million in 3,514 theaters.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse also grabbed the record from Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen for having the highest grossing IMAX opening in North America. The third installment of the nTwilight series was shown in 192 IMAX theaters and earned about $1 million. The sequel to the 2007 action flick Transformer earned about $959,000 last year.

But will Eclipse surpass the other records of New Moon and Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen? Let’s just wait. But if you want, you can watch Eclipse online.

Eclipse Sets First Record

Just before the third installment of the Twilight series will be shown in theaters, it made a record event. The movie proves to be critic proof, much like the past two Twilight movies. The reviews have come out, and the good side is that they were not as bad as Twilight and New Moon received, which saying there were less than favorable would be an understatement. But still, it didn’t matter as Twihards packed theaters and earned the two movies more than $1 billion at the box office. Not minding the fact that both movies have relatively small budgets, compared to other tentpole movies, in which $100 million production budget is considered a minimum, without counting the promotional expenses.

And now here comes Eclipse. Given how much the hype was given to the big screen adaptation of the best-selling third entry of Twilight novels by American author Stephenie Meyer, it is expected to be a huge hit at the box –office. And it is most likely so. The film has now set a record for having the biggest opening release in domestic history. Eclipse will be shown in 4,416 theaters throughout North America, surpassing the record set by Iron Man 2 last May. The Marvel Comics character movie adaptation and a sequel to 2008’s Iron Man, which starred Oscar winner Robert Downey, Jr., was released in 4,380 venues.

But will it surpass the records made by New Moon, like having the biggest midnight opening, and the biggest single-day opening in domestic history? It also the third highest opening weekend, and is placed 37th for the highest grossing of all time, without inflation.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse stars  Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner, and directed by David Slade. You might want to Watch Eclipse online.

Eclipse "Legend" TV Spot

Following the release of the last movie clip You’ll Always Be my Bella or Bedroom, and the featurette which showed the newborn vampires, now, Summit Entertainment has unveiled a brand new TV spot entitled Legend to promote the upcoming and much-awaited movie The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. The studio is pretty much heavy to have the public feel the anticipation of the vampire phenomenon.

The latest TV spot is like a hodgepodge of previous clips, and trailer scenes that have been already released a few times ago. But not all of them were. There were never been seen clips that were included in the latest promotional stunt for Eclipse. But what’s great about Legend is how Summit edited the TV spot.  It starts with the beautiful meadow shot with Bella and Edward. And then the tension builds up with the confrontation scene of Edward and Jacob at the parking lot. The clip moves on to the newborn vampires. And that’s where the action starts. There are the spectacular and high-octane fight scenes of the vampires and the wolf pack. Victoria is also seen going up against the Cullens and the redhead vampire is looking pretty nasty.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is just a few days away before it will hit theaters. And from the TV spot, it does promise to be one of the most exciting and would probably be the biggest movie event this summer. There is so much buzz going around and is expected to top the box office after it will be released this June 30. It is directed by David Slade and stars Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, and Taylor Lautner. It is based on the third novel the same title by Stephenie Meyer. The screenplay is written Melissa Rosenberg and produced by Wyck Godfrey and Karen Rosenfelt. And if you are a huge Twilight fan, you can also Watch Eclipse online.

A Brand New Eclipse Clip Featuring Edward and Bella

After Summit Entertainment has released a brand new featurette which focused on the newborn vampire army of Victoria led by Riley and their fight against the unlikely team-up of the Cullen Coven and the wolf pack which also showed several actors’ commentaries, behind-the-scene takes, training, and previous TV spots and movie clips, now the studio has unveiled another clip from the movie. Entitled You’ll Always be my Bella, it features Bella and Edward talking about trying to make a huge decision that will surely affect their lives forever.

In Eclipse, Bella is trying to decide whether she wants to become a vampire or not. And Edward is also caught in the dilemma if he will agree with Bella’s decision if she really does decide to become like a bloodsucker. And in the latest clip, Bella is asking why Edward does want her to be like. Edward then reveals that he thinks that vampires do not have souls, eventhough Bella believes otherwise. Although part of him wants her to transform into a vampire, he just feels that it is just selfish of him because he just wants to hold her forever. But Bella believes that the real reason is that Edward thinks hat she will change or be different. She then assures him that she wouldn’t and that she would still be warm and smell the same. Edward then hugs her and tells her, “You’ll always be my Bella.” They then shared a kiss together.

Bella is at a standpoint on Eclipse. Will she be willing to turn herself into a vampire? Is she ready to give up her budding friendship with Jacob? And if Edward asks her hand in marriage, will she accept her proposal? Through the midst of all these, Victoria is seeking her to avenge the death of her lover James, who was killed by the Cullens in Twilight. Will she survive?

These are just some of the questions that will be answered this June 30 once The twilight Saga: Eclipse will be shown in theaters. Or you might want to Watch Eclipse online.

Twilight Producer Wyck Godfrey Talks About Eclipse and Breaking Dawn

The Twilight Saga has had several different directors and producers on the project but only screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg and producer Wyck Godfrey has remained among the production crew of the film series. In an interview, Rosenberg has just recently said that she has an idea on what parts will be shown on the first half of Breaking Dawn after the confirmation that it will be split into movies. Godfrey later talked about his thoughts on Eclipse and Breaking Dawn.

He revealed several reasons why he thought that David Slade was the best choice to direct Eclipse. He said that he honestly loved Hard Candy, and after he saw the movie, which was directed by Slade, he sent him everything he had. He also loved the performances of the cast of movie. It starred Patrick Wilson (Little Children, Watchmen), and Ellen Page (Juno). He also adored the filmmaking and how he kept one small house, and sometimes a tiny room seems alive, tense and exciting in the whole movie. He also got to see 30 Days of Night, a horror vampire movie which was also directed by Slade in 2007. He liked the genre elements of the film and how Slade had a real vision what that world was like. He thought that the director’s “ability to tell a story and elicit amazing performances in Hard Candy and to create a world in 30 Days of Night” were a perfect combination and exactly the qualities they were looking for. Plus, they wanted to take a different direction on the third installment of the twilight series after Chris Weitz helmed New Moon. He also wanted to do something had “a little bit more anxiety and edge into it.” In Eclipse, Bella is struggling to choose between Jacob and Edward, and also caught up if she wants to become a vampire or stay human, and he thought that Slade’s style could help out a lot.

And he was also asked on why they went for Bill Condon to direct Breaking Dawn. Other notable names rumored to have been approached were Sofia Coppola and Gus Van Sant. Condon is both an award-winning screenwriter and director. His famous works include Chicago, Kinsey, and Dreamgirls. In 1999, he received an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay for Gods and Monsters. Godfrey said that Breaking Dawn’s theme is “very mature,” and that Bella and Edward are going through “very adult things” and their relationship has evolved like having a married life to being mother and father, which Edward never thought about their relationship before.

He also added that of his last three films, the actors in this movie received Academy Award nominations, which the Twilight Saga hasn’t. It is often compared to other successful film franchises like Lord of The Rings trilogy and Harry Potter series, which were not only huge at the box-office but also gained respect from critics and award-giving bodies alike. He said that from a performance standpoint, Kristen Stewart, who plays Bella, is going to be thrown into something that she has not experienced or thought of deeply before in real life. She could remember her first love, falling in love, or even went through of having trouble of choosing between two men but the producer thought that the idea of dealing with these issues may be tough for her, and bringing in a director like Condon would help a lot. Plus, given what they saw in Dreamgirls, the director could “create something with a real scope and grandeur” to Breaking Dawn. He then added that Condon will come full circle and that he called him “a genre guy.” Before switching to working on musicals, his movies were mostly horror movies. His earlier works included Sister, Sister, Candyman 2: Farewell to the Flesh, F/X 2, and Murder 101.

Godfrey has also produced several movies besides the Twilight Saga like Behind Enemy Lines, I, Robot, AVP: Alien Vs. Predator, The Nativity Story, Eragon, and Dear John. His upcoming projects include Everything Must Go, Solstice, and Dark Tide.

The twilight Saga: Eclipse will be shown in theaters on June 30. If you like, you can also Watch Eclipse online.

Pattinson Put in a Situation, Bella with a Pouf, and Jacob... still shirtless in Jimmy Kimmel

As another promotional stunt for the much-awaited third installment of the Twilight, Eclipse, Jimmy Kimmel Live show will have a primetime special entitled Twilight saga: the Total Eclipse of the Heart. It will be the first, and probably the last time that the cast members will appear on primetime. Slated to be present are Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart, Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Xavier Samuel, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Dakota Fanning. It will air on June 23, 2010, 9 pm central time, on ABC. A week after that, the movie will be shown in theaters worldwide. But the film has just premiered both in Berlin and Rome. Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart attended the red carpet event. Robert Pattinson was not there as because he was stuck shooting another movie.

There are talks that the Jersey Shore stars of MTV will spoof the lead characters of Twilight. Mike Sorrentino aka The Situation will play the brooding vampire Edward Cullen. But unlike Pattinson, he has tanning bed coffin and is seen shirtless. But do you want Edward to be fully-clothed or not? And those abs! Nicole Polizzi, or commonly known as Snooki, has been spotted wearing a yellow minidress. She will portray the ever gloomy-looking Bella Swan. But will she don her signature pouf hairstyle? Pauly Del Vecchio, or DJ Pauly D, is set to play wolfboy Jacob Black. I have no comment as Lautner is almost always never without a shirt on. Also getting in on the act is Jimmy Kimmel himself. He will take on the role by Billy Burke, Charlie Swan, father of Bella and the chief of Forks chief of police. Their sketch has already been pre-taped. Kimmel’s spoofs are pretty funny but let’s just hope that the Jersey Shore cast doesn’t mess this one up. Twilighters will march up on them if they do. They even picked on Julia Roberts’ niece Emma when she dissed on Pattinson.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is bound to be in theaters on June 30, 2010. And you might also catch it when you try to Watch Eclipse online.
