Stewart, who plays Bella Swan, said, "I'm glad that's out and about. I didn't know that was something that people knew."
The three directors she was referring to are Gus Van Sant, Sofia Coppola, and Bill Condon. The news first broke out when Entertainment Weekly reported that sources told them that the studio has reached out to at least three top-notch directors. But of the three, only Van Sant’s rep confirmed the report. Summit also hasn’t released a statement regarding that matter.
Stewart expressed her excitement for Breaking Dawn regarding who the director will be. She said, "I think it's awesome. I think it's so cool that they're reaching. I think any one of those people would be great."
All three directors have been nominated at the Oscar, although none of them won. Van Sant was nominated for an Oscar for Best Director in 1998 for the movie Good Will Hunting, with Oscar winners Robin Williams (Best Supporting Actor), and Matt Damon and Ben Affleck (Best Original Screenplay) and at the 2008 Academy Award for the movie Milk, which starred Sean Penn. His other films include My Private Idaho and Elephant.
Robert Pattinson and Peter Facinelli told MTV that their ideal director is Van Sant. Pattinson, who plays Edward Cullen said, "He shoots everything in Portland. He's good at making it look beautiful. It’s all about teenage love and obsessions. I think Gus Van Sant would be great."
Coppola was nominated at the Academy for Best Director for the movie Lost in Translation in 2004. Only three other women were given such recognition: Lina Wertmüller for Seven Beauties, Kane Campion for The Piano, and Kathryn Bigelow for the Hurt Locker, for which she took home the award. But she won Best Original Screenplay. Her other movies are Virgin Suicides and Marie Antoinette.
Condon was also nominated as Best Director at the Oscars for the musical Dreamgirls. And like the other two, he also took home an award for his screenplay for the movie Gods and Demons. But unlike them, it was adapted. He was also nominated as Best Adapted Screenplay for the musical Chicago.
But who the director will be depends on the longtime writer of the Twilight movies Melissa Rosenberg. She has yet to submit the draft of the movie. Or is it movies? There is no word out yet whether the final installment will be split into two films. While waiting for it, go Watch Eclipse Online Free on this site first a few days after the official release of the movie on the theaters.
