Eclipse Lost To Glee at the Billboard 200

In just a few days before the third installment of the Twilight series, Eclipse, will hit theaters, the original soundtrack of the movie has just been dropped… and it failed to claim the top spot in the first week of its release. According to Nielsen SoundScan, the album sold over 144,000 copies in the US but it was not enough to reach the number one slot. It got beaten by an album of a hit television musical Glee.

The original soundtrack of Fox’s show, Glee: The Music, Journey To Regionals, reigned supreme at the Billboard 200 with over 152,000 copies sold. The album contains songs from the season finale of the show, which aired just a few days ago before the soundtrack was released. It featured the anthemic song Don’t Stop Believing of Journey, Jonathan Groff’s take on Bohemian Rhapsody, and another rendition of Over the Rainbow. This is the third time that the album from the show reached number one after Glee: The Music, The Power of Madonna (released May 8, 2010) and Glee: The Music- Volume 3: Showstoppers (June 5). Three number one albums in just one year!

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse Original Motion Picture Soundtrack featured songs like Eclipse (All Yours) by Metric, Chop and Change by The Black Keys, Change by Let’s Get Lost, a collaboration of Beck and Bat For Lashes, Jonathan Low by Vampire Weekend, What Part of Forever by Cee-Lo Green, and Jacob’s Theme by Howard Shore.  The first and carrier single was Neutron Star Collision by Muse, and peaked at number 77 at the Billboard Hot 100. It currently sits at the 17^th position at the Billboard Alternative Songs and 24^th at the Rock Songs chart.

The first Twilight soundtrack debuted at the number one spot with 165,000 copies after the first week of its release. The album then sold over 3.5 million copies worldwide. The next album, the original soundtrack of New Moon, debuted at number two, behind Michael Buble’s Crazy Love, with over 153,000 copies sold. But a week after it shot up to the top spot.

But will it take the top spot next week? Most don’t see it coming. Drake’s album Thank Me Later, is slated to be released and is expected to sell more or less 475,000 copies, according to Billboard. But the movie adaptation of The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is set to be released in theaters on June 30, 2010 and, if expectations are meet, it will likely debut at the top of the box-office. Melissa Rosenberg Talks About Breaking Dawn

Melissa Rosenberg has been hired by Summit Entertainment to write for the adaptation of the Twilight, which was based on the first novel of the series of books by American author Stephenie Meyer, just before the 2007-2008 Writers Guild of America strike. From then on, she was signed on to remain on the project despite having changes on the production crew on the Twilight franchise. And last week, Summit has announced that Breaking Dawn will be made into two films. Although the script is yet to be finished but Rosenberg already has an idea on what will be seen on the first part, which has been scheduled to be shown in November 18, 2011, and on the second half, which the release date is yet to be announced.
She revealed during a press conference a few days ago in Beverly Hills a few details on what parts will be seen on each of the movies. She said, “Nothing has actually been decided, but the natural split is somewhere between she’s human in movie one, she’s a vampire [in movie two].” She continued, “She’s human and pregnant in one; she’s a vampire and a parent in two. Bill Condon has been looking at that from a visual standpoint, so that’s natural. That said, there’s a lot of room about where that moment is.”
She also revealed her thoughts regarding Breaking Dawn and how Meyer handled the way the story went and the plight of the characters. She told them, “It was a very bold move, what Stephenie did and where she took her characters. She had them grow and get married and have children and realize her ultimate potential of becoming a vampire.” But she also acknowledged that some fans were not happy with how things ended. She commented, “It was a very bold move. I think it lost some of the audience who wanted to continue the other things, the fantasies and the desire. Now, she’s got it all, and what do you do with it?”
But she was happy and thrilled about where the story went and would give her enough material to work on to turn one novel into two movies. She added, “So, it’s a very different kind of movie, I think, and a very different kind of story. I think there’s definitely material enough for two movies in these books, but there’s also, for the first time, a little breathing room. There’s room to explore a little bit and to expand. I’m excited about that.”

It was just a matter of time. It was clear that the final book of the Twilight series, Breaking Dawn by best-selling author Stephenie Meyer, will be made into two movies. The world was just waiting for a confirmation, and now it has arrived. This is after the release of the new Eclipse scene with the intro from Robert Pattinson. The novel was 756 pages, the most in the series. It was the biggest selling children’s book in 2008 and sold over 6 million copies. The series, which also includes Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse, have sold more than 100 million copies. The first two movie adaptations have now reached $1.1 billion worldwide at the box-office.

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn will be split into two movies, according to the official press statement by Summit Entertainment, which has just been released. There has been too much buzz on whether the Twilight series will follow the Harry Potter franchise. Warner Bros. decided way back in 2007 that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be divided into two films: the first one will be shown on November 19 this year and part two will hit theaters on July 15, 2010. Summit has already set a schedule for the first part of Breaking Dawn, November 18, 2011. They have also attached award-winning director Bill Condon to direct the two movies. Condon is best-known to direct the musical Dreamgirls, which starred Beyonce, Jamie Foxx, and Jennifer Hudson. He has also written for critically-accalimed movies like Chicago, Kinsey, and Gods and Monsters, which won him an Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay.

The whole cast, who have not been killed in Eclipse, are all likely to reprise their roles. Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart, and the rest of the Cullens cast, as well as Billy Burke, who plays Charlie Swan, Bella’s father, have all signed up, and will start shooting later this fall. Melissa Rosenberg is still finishing the screenplay for both movies. They are scheduled to shoot the film back to back, like Lord of the Rings.

2010 MMAs To Premiere New Eclipse Scene

The 2010 MTV Movie Awards is coming up soon and it will be once again invaded by vampires and werewolves. Last year, they have ruled over the award show and it seems like it will be no different this year. The stars of the Twilight series, Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner will appear on the show to present the another movie clip from The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.

At this year’s MMAs, New Moon is nominated for five categories, including Best Movie. The film will be up against Alice in Wonderland (which just hits the $1 billion gross mark), The Hangover (the most nominated at the MMAs with six nominations), and Avatar (the highest grossing movie of all time), and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2009’s 2nd highest earning film, behind Avatar.) The three lead stars also have multiple nominations. Pattinson and Lautner will face each other for the Best Male Performance. Stewart is once again nominated for Best Female Performance, which she won last year. But the most exciting part would be the Best Kiss category. RPatz and KStew kiss in New Moon is nominated. Stewart and Twilight co-star Dakota Fanning girl-on-girl kiss on The Runaways also gets a nod, as well as Taylors, Lautner and Swift, on their liplock on Valentine’s Day. The three are also pitted against each other in the new category added, Global Superstar (also nominated are Daniel Radcliffe and Johnny Depp).

The show will be hosted Aziz Ansari, who stars in NBC’s parks and Recreation. He is also known for creating and starring in the cult classic and critically-acclaimed MTV sketch show Human Giant. Twilight’s Chaske Spencer, who plays Sam Uley, will serve as the red carpet correspondent. It will be held at the Gibson Amphitheater in Universal City, California. Katy Perry and Christina Aguilera will perform on stage their latest singles from their new albums. Oscar’s Best Actress Sandra Bullock will be given MTV’s highest honor, the Generation Award, the first woman to receive such honor.

Now that all the Cullens have signed to appear on The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Summit Entertainment has released the latest posters of the Cullen coven which includes Dr. Carlisle Cullen, Esme Cullen, Emmett Cullen, Alice Cullen, Rosalie Hale, and Jasper Hale. They are vegetarian vampires which mean they do not hunt for humans to feed on, but they only suck the blood of animals in order to survive. Dr. Carlisle and Esme act as their adoptive parents.

The newest Cullens banner is to promote the upcoming third installment of the Twilight series, Eclipse. In the movie, The Cullens make an unlikely pact with the shape-shifters to protect Bella against the wrath of the evil vampire Victoria who has set out to take revenge on Bella, Edward, and the rest of the Cullen clan for killing his mate James. The group will also face against the newborn vampire army of Victoria, led by Riley. They have went to La Push after Victoria told them that the Cullens were a threat to their existence and by finding Bella they could be led to the Cullens. They have first ravaged Seattle and made a series of mysterious killings. The Cullens first thought that the Volturi was behind the murders, but they then realized that it wasn’t them. The Volturi leaders then sent their guards to control the newborn vampires because they were grabbing too much attention. And in the process, they are going to expose the vampire world to humanity. It is the Volturi’s duty to keep the vampire world a secret.

The Cullen cast members include Robert Pattinson, Peter Facinelli, Elizabeth Reaser, Kellan Lutz, Ashley Greene, Jackson Rathbone, and Nikki Reed. The movie will be shown in theaters in June 30, 2010 or you can also Watch Twilight Eclipse full movie online.

Brand New Eclipse Scenes

Summit Entertainment has unveiled two new movie clips from The Twilight Saga; Eclipse. The latest clips are for the latest promotional scheme after the studio announced that the trailer that premiered at the Oprah Winfrey Show and featured the Volturi Guards above a building would be the last. After that they have revealed the tracklist of the soundtrack, and released the first single off the album.

On the first movie clip, it shows the three lead stars, Edward, Jacob, and Bella, on a confrontation scene. Edward threatens Jacob to stay away from Bella, but Jacob does not want to and said back that Bella does not know what she wants. And while they are fighting each other, Bella is trying to stop them. Then her father, Charlie, comes out of the house to calm them down and asks them what is going on. Then Jacob revealed to them that he kissed Bella.

The second scene features Rosalie Hale and Bella. Rosalie reveals to Bella that she does hate her because she envies her, when Bella asked why she does not like her. Rosalie is envious of her because unlike most of them, they were not given a chance whether they wanted to become vampires are not. Bella has the option yet still decides to be one, and Rosalie feels that she is making a wrong decision. If it is up to her, she would not have wanted to be one.

In Eclipse, Bella is having trouble dealing with her feelings towards Edward and Jacob. She is in love with Edward and agrees to marry him when he proposed. But is she ready to give up her growing friendship with Jacob? And she is also confronted with having to choose between being a vampire or not.

Listen to the first single off the Eclipse Soundtrack

From the official website of the author of the Twilight novels Stephenie Meyer, she announced that Muse, her favorite rock band, will finally headline The Twilight saga: Eclipse (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack). The announcement comes after the release of the final trailer of the movie, which debuted at the Oprah Winfrey Show.

The English rock/alternative band has contributed on the all of the Twilight albums. They first appeared on Twilight with the track Supermassive Hole which was heard during the infamous Cullens baseball game scene and was the first track of the album. Paramore’ Decode was used as the lead single, which has sold more than 1,000,000 copies and was nominated at the Grammy Awards for Best Song Written for a movie. On New Moon, their song I Belong to You (Remix Version), which had additional guitars, was used when Bella and Jessica went to the movies. Meet me on the Equinox by Death Cab for Cutie became the lead single for the album.

Neutron Star Collision (Love is Forever) debuted on the BBC Radio 1 during Zane Lowe’s show, where Muse’s vocalist, Matthew Bellamy, was interviewed last May 17, 2010. Bellamy revealed that he wrote the song after he and his long-time girlfriend broke-up at the end of 2009. He revealed that represented a bit of a difficult period of his life and that the track may not be relevant anymore after the next album. He said that the lyrics talked about his feelings during the start of his relationship which he felt like everything would go on forever. He described it as a “kind of like a cheesy love sentiment.” The song captures the forbidden relationship of Edward and Bella quite nicely.
